King City Diagnostic Imaging offers a full range of diagnostic imaging services in King City, including X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, bone density (BMD), vascular ultrasound, cardiology testing, and FibroScan. All exams require a requisition from a referring physician or nurse practitioner, and most are covered by OHIP when medically necessary; see the Government of Ontario’s OHIP coverage page for details. The diagnostic imaging services King City patients rely on are each performed by experienced technologists and interpreted by licensed radiologists. A referral from your physician or nurse practitioner is required for all exams except walk-in X-ray.

X-Ray: X-ray imaging uses a small, controlled dose of radiation to produce images of bones and certain soft tissues. It is commonly used to assess fractures, joint problems, and chest conditions, and is available on a walk-in basis with a valid requisition.

Ultrasound: Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves, rather than radiation, to create real-time images of organs, soft tissue, and blood flow, supporting a wide range of general, abdominal, and other diagnostic exams by appointment.

Mammography: Mammography is a low-dose X-ray exam used to screen for or investigate breast abnormalities, including breast cancer. Most Ontario residents aged 50 to 74 are eligible for an OHIP-covered screening mammogram every two years.

Bone Density (BMD): A bone density (BMD or DXA) scan measures bone mineral density to assess fracture risk and to help diagnose or monitor osteoporosis and osteopenia, particularly in postmenopausal women and older adults.

Vascular Ultrasound: Vascular ultrasound uses Doppler sound wave technology to assess blood flow through the arteries and veins, helping physicians evaluate blood clots, narrowed arteries, and varicose veins.

Cardiology Testing: Our non-invasive cardiology testing includes ECG, echocardiogram, and Holter monitoring, helping physicians assess heart rhythm and function and detect abnormalities early.

FibroScan (Elastography): FibroScan measures liver stiffness to help physicians assess conditions such as fatty liver disease or chronic hepatitis, without the need for a biopsy. Please note this exam is not covered by OHIP.

Most diagnostic imaging exams require a requisition from your family doctor, nurse practitioner, or specialist before you can book an appointment. The requisition tells us which exam has been ordered and why, which helps our technologists and radiologists provide the most relevant care. Walk-in X-ray is the one exception – patients with a valid X-ray requisition can visit during our posted walk-in hours without booking ahead.
